Abstract
This release contains the data for the (under review) manuscript "Agricultural tile drains increase the susceptibility of streams to longer and more intense streamflow droughts". The data provided with this resource include the derived streamflow drought characteristics that were calculated for 122 Midwestern (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio) watersheds using daily April-November USGS streamflow data from 1980-2022.
The columns in the dataset are representative of the variables listed below:
gage_id: The USGS ID for each gage (and associated watershed) used in the study.
Q5_duration: The average length of time an individual streamflow drought lasted at each site (in days) for droughts identified using the 5th percentile variable threshold.
Q10_duration: The average length of time an individual streamflow drought lasted at each site (in days) for droughts identified using the 10th percentile variable threshold.
Q20 _duration: The average length of time an individual streamflow drought lasted at each site (in days) for droughts identified using the 20th percentile variable threshold.
Q30_duration: The average length of time an individual streamflow drought lasted at each site (in days) for droughts identified using the 30th percentile variable threshold.
Q5_frequency: The average number of streamflow drought events per year (April-November) for each site using the 5th percentile variable threshold.
Q10_frequency: The average number of streamflow drought events per year (April-November) for each site using the 10th percentile variable threshold.
Q20_frequency: The average number of streamflow drought events per year (April-November) for each site using the 20th percentile variable threshold.
Q30_frequency: The average number of streamflow drought events per year (April-November) for each site using the 30th percentile variable threshold.
Q5_deficit_ratio: The median event-based streamflow drought deficit ratio for each site using the 5th percentile variable threshold.
Q10_deficit_ratio: The median event-based streamflow drought deficit ratio for each site using the 10th percentile variable threshold.
Q20_deficit_ratio: The median event-based streamflow drought deficit ratio for each site using the 20th percentile variable threshold.
Q30_deficit_ratio: The median event-based streamflow drought deficit ratio for each site using the 30th percentile variable threshold.
