Abstract
This dataset contains model files and field observations of local hydrology, water temperature, and meteorology from the summer of 2023 in the West Fork of the Kickapoo River watershed collected by Ben Sellers and Eric Booth at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Water temperature data were collected using HOBO Water Temp V2 Pro temperature loggers. Hydraulic measurements were collected using a SonTek Flowtracker 2 handheld acoustic doppler velocimeter. Meteorological data were recorded with HOBO U30 weather station. Temperature and meteorological data are reported at an hourly timestep. Observations were used to calibrate and validate a Heat Source 9 stream temperature model for the summer of 2023, used to model the effect of channel width/depth and shade from riparian vegetation on stream temperatures.
