Abstract

This resource contains water table elevation data for St. Jones National Estuarine Research Reserve in Dover, DE. Monitoring well data from within the coastal wetland captures levels from January - May, 2018; monitoring well data from wells upland of the wetland include water table elevation for March, 2017-December, 2018. Well Descriptions

Coastal wetland monitoring wells: Monitoring wells in the coastal wetland were constructed using 3.175 cm schedule 40 PVC. Wells are 1.2 m deep with sand-pack around the 91 cm of slotted well screen. Readings were collected every 15 minutes using a conductivity, temperature, depth logger (Solinst, Canada). An air pressure logger (Solinst, Canada), located in the coastal wetland near the monitoring wells, was used to barometrically correct the absolute pressure measurements from the wells. Upland monitoring wells: The upland monitoring wells are described in: He, C. and T. E. McKenna. (2014). Using Numerical Models to Evaluate Impacts of Sea Level Rise on Groundwater Resources in the Delaware Coastal Plain, September 2014, Report submitted by the Delaware Geological Survey to the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve, Delaware Geological Survey, Geophysical log database, www.dgs.udel.edu. Well absolute pressure readings were recorded every 15 minutes using a conductivity, temperature, depth logger (In-Situ, USA). Measurements from the wells were barometrically corrected.
