ABSTRACT:
This dataset contains primary and processed data for the manuscript "Evapotranspiration of residential lawns across the United States", Grijseels et al. (submitted to WRR, 2022). The data was collected at residential yards in six Metropolitan Statistical Areas: Boston (Massachusetts), Minneapolis-St. Paul (Minnesota), Baltimore (Maryland), Miami (Florida), Los Angeles (California), and Phoenix (Arizona). The data consists of a variety of instantaneously measured climate variables as well as variables reflecting yard management. Files labeled with "_flag" contain data collected at each measurement location; files labeled with "_yard" contain data averaged per property (with data from turfgrass lawns located in the front yard and/or backyard of a property). The file header contains detailed metadata for the site and the variable and method with each column. Additional information on site selection and methods can be found in the manuscript. The file "Figures" contains averaged tables that were used to create each figure or table in the manuscript, and each tab is labeled in the same way as the corresponding figure or table number.
