ABSTRACT:
Data presented here were used to analyze fish assemblage variations in different lotic sites of one of the many channels which shape the wide anabranching floodplain of the middle reach of the Paraná River. Data shared were divided in four data sets:
- hydrological data: records of the daily water levels of the Middle Paraná River from 2013 to 2018 (based on the Santa Fe gauging station);
- hydraulic data: records of the bathymetry and the intensity of flow velocity with a Teledyne RDI Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). From one hand, measurements were sampled for the whole channel from upstream site 1 to downstream site 2, realizing series of cross-section measurements spaced 30 m apart. From another hand, detailed measurements of streamwise flow magnitude (primary velocities) at each sampling site (1, 2, 3 and 4) were performed during distinct hydrological conditions (13 periods of measurement covering water levels from 2.3 to 5.35 m were shared).
- physicochemical parameters: records of water conductivity (K, µS/cm), superficial dissolved oxygen (SDO, mg/L), pH, water temperature (T, °C), and water transparency (Tr, m) at the different sites and periods of the study.
- Fish base from 2013 to 2018: records of the species caught with gill nets of stretched mesh size (2013 -2016) in the four sites and records of fish echo with a single-beam echo sounder in twelve sites of the channel, including the four sites mentioned above (2018).
